Luxman L-5

by Andy Smith Date Added: Monday 20 July, 2015
The Luxman L 5 integrated amp has excellent dynamics ,extraordinary detail ,images well and is not speaker sensitive . It s an elegant looking piece with defeatable tone controls ,a mono setting ,-20 db switch as well as 2 subsonic cutoffs plus a high cut .There are 2 phono input settings plus a multi functional tape settings . On the downside has only 3 inputs phono, tuner and aux which are diabolically located in a well on it s underside so if you use interconnects of any size at all you need to find away to elevate it (I use an old Linn base plus hockey pucks .The other negative are the speaker connections possibly the worst I ve ever seen .will only accept bare wire up to 12 awg which you crimp with tiny threaded knobs .At no time do feel you ve got a good tight connection. As well it has a teeny power cord which I replaced to good effect ..will do the same to the connectors .
