Sansui A-40

by Russell Britain Date Added: Thursday 23 August, 2012
Available in silver or black and featuring fashionable lflourescent blue LED metering he A40 was Sansui'a cheapest product in their budget range launched towards the end of 1979. Construction looked and felt cheap and sound was below average with marked sibilence being a prominent feature of the amps sound quality. It retailed for around £65 which put it up against the Denyo AU3000m at £65 and the legendary Nad 3020 at £79. Both of those amps were much better performers and the A40's chief strength was its ready availability at Dixons and Boots high street branches. By comparison the Denyo was very difficult to find and the Nad only available through Hi Fi Markets.
