The AU-6500 was my first foray into real audio. I purchased it in 1972 and used it for 20 years. Along the way I purchased several mid level receivers from Yamaha and Pioneer but always ended back with the Sansui. It just sounded better and had a very classic elegant look besides feeling well made. I had friends with Carver and Phase Linear amps that were way more powerful but for sitting in a room and just listening without breaking glass the Sansui sounded just as good. I gave it to my oldest son in the mid-90's and I am now thinking I would like to have it back. With luck it may be sitting in his basement collecting dust...I will keep my fingers crossed.
