When Sony designed this amplifier it was at a time when quality was a priority. The competition was strong. Sony put their best effort into this gem, and it has gained the nickname "The Mac Killer" for being as good as if not better than the 1973 McIntosh amps that year. That says it all if you know the McIntosh reputation.
