Gone are the days of ho hum tuners now! I manage to have an all matched set of these supposed \"high end\" components, Technics SU A8, SE A7 and the ST S8. Actually these are very good examples of Technics 1982 better product line! The spec tell you one thing, as usual, but the sound in these components far exceed those specs.

The components all sound very clean together, well balanced with plenty of reserve power- to be only 60 WPC in stereo it has incredible reserve. The tuner, rated 7 gang, is as good as it gets! I am located behind a large hill 30 miles from my favorite station in Dallas TX. and my reception is incredible both in narrow band and wide band reception. This tuner has a very solid sound with deep clean pronounced bass and super clean upper end. While not CD quality it is captivating and easy to listen too. I once had their 9 gang 9060 tuner and this unit sounds even better than that one did and can capture/ hold every bit as good.

So if you believe audio gear was on the skids around 1982- get you this set of these Technics preamp, power amp and tuner- it will certainly change your mind about good high grade audio!
