Domenic Melino - 03/02/2022 As the expression goes, "They don't make them as they used to,". I bought this beefy 120-watt integrated amp back in 1980 and am still enjoying it to this day 40+ years later. It's quite amazing to see how this old amp can still outperform many of today's newer amplifiers. The craftsmanship is second to none. the design is elegant and the sound it produces is effortlessly powerful and a pleasure to listen to over a wide range of speakers. The only thing I would have loved to see added to this amp is a remote control capability and VU meters, but now I'm really nitpicking. Other components have come and gone, but the Technics SU-V9 remains at the heart of my 2-channel listening set-up. I'd definitely buy it again if Technics still made one. |
john tripplett - 07/18/2021 I have been enjoying my V9 for over 10 years now. I wouldn\'t call myself an audiophile but my opinion of this amp is that it is incredible. I searched for an amp to keep for many years and listened to countless amps to find my forever amp and this is it. I love live concert quality music in my home and this one delivers and more. The highs are crisp and clear. Midrange is excellent. The bass offers more than most speakers can handle. I power up some JBL\'s with it. The JBL\'s cabinet is about 4 foot tall by 3 wide with 18 inch woofers that handle 400 watts but this amp can push them to the their limits with only 120 watts. I am amazed. Concert level volume will be reached before quarter volume on the dial. If you love being in the front row at a good rock concert and you want that in your home then this is the amp for you. The clarity of music at any volume is amazing. If you ever have the chance to listen to one---DO IT!!! If i ever have the chance to get another in any condition at a decent price it will also be mine. |
