Yamaha A-500

by Miles Daggett Date Added: Saturday 01 June, 2013
Picked up a very clean A-500 that just been refurbished by Alex and Kevin at "The Analog Store" in Raleigh, NC for a fair price. It drives my NHT 1.3C's easily in my apartment. The setup sounds great. I use a circa 1975 Technics SL23 turntable for most of my listening and the system gives me lots of detail. The bass is lacking a bit, but I grew up listening to JBL 4311 studio monitors with giant 12" speakers and was a bit spoiled in that regard. Imaging is broad but no exaggerated. I would highly recommend the Yamaha for use with a decent mini or bookshelf speaker.
