I purchased my silver Yamaha T-760 Tuner in 1982. I chose it to sit on top of a stablemate, the Yamaha A-960 Amplifier. (The two units were released in Yamaha's "Natural Sound' era, although the tuner was not audibly affected by this badging, fortunately);
It's brushed satin facia, clean lines and red/yellow digital display marked it out as a contemporary hi-fi component at the time, and strangely the design has not aged over 30 years. It sits with my new audio items very comfortably. I felt compelled to keep it on the shelf because of it's ease of operation, clean FM sound, and rugged construction. It has moved with me many times without any complaint.
Provided you feed it with reasonable signal strength from a quality FM transmission, it will deliver a wide sound stage and convincing audio. If the signal is weak, it will simply drop back to a reduced stereo format to minimise hiss levels like most tuner designs. The memory programming is easy and elegant to perform. AM reception is accurately revealed for what it is...or isn't.
