The AU317 is a capable and respected 50 WPC mid range amp. It was produced 1978-1980 when Sansui was at the height of its engineering game. It's a clean, precise and realistic amp. I run mine with a pair of 6 ohm Klipsch KG4 speakers rated at 120 WPC. They work well together with a Technics table. This amp has a lot of nice features not found on the AU217 or 117 amps and even on the AU417.

The AU317 uses Sansui's DC technology, which was used on its larger receivers of this period. It added greatly to its durability and sound quality. This slim line amp offers features, value and superb sound reproduction! It pairs up well with the TU217 tuner, in height and width.

This amp has a high filter switch, tone defeat, mic mixing level and phono sub-sonic switch. It features a power delay switch to the speakers on start up.

The AU317 is acknowledged as a excellent amp, with lots of features and value. No need to go bigger, unless you have power hungry speakers or you want to blow your ears out! This will do just fine for most people as the larger AU517 and AU717 models. The AU417 is regarded as AU317 in a big cabinet for those who want to impress themselves with cabinet size, but can't afford a AU717 or find a AU517! Fantastic vintage audio buy!
