Technics SA-5560

by Steven Weston Date Added: Wednesday 04 September, 2013
I bought this receiver 40 years ago. The only service it has needed was replacing the lamps behind the tuning display (I used LED array fuse-type lamps -- they won't burn out).

The receiver is heavy and big. But, it delivers subtle and sophisticated sound with clarity and refinement. I use it to drive Ultralinear speakers of that era for full room sound. I also use it to drive a 2+1 Bose system for quiet music in the bedroom. The amp side is superb. The FM tuner is not on par with modern tuners, but it delivers clean signals without noise.

If you find one at a garage sale or on eBay, buy it. You won't be disappointed.
