I recently purchased my A500 amp used at a local pawn shop last year and so far I am very pleased with it. It has great natural sound and is easy to use. I like that it is pretty basic in its controls but still offers good customization. I am using an 80s JVC turntable and Technics tower speakers with it and it sounds great to my ears. I would recommend this amplifier to anyone but the utmost technophile.

Picked up a very clean A-500 that just been refurbished by Alex and Kevin at "The Analog Store" in Raleigh, NC for a fair price. It drives my NHT 1.3C's easily in my apartment. The setup sounds great. I use a circa 1975 Technics SL23 turntable for most of my listening and the system gives me lots of detail. The bass is lacking a bit, but I grew up listening to JBL 4311 studio monitors with giant 12" speakers and was a bit spoiled in that regard. Imaging is broad but no exaggerated. I would highly recommend the Yamaha for use with a decent mini or bookshelf speaker.
