Randy Barrish - 02/22/2019 I am the original owner of an A-500. Currently, I use this as a back-up system as I also own a Pioneer SX-690. I am always pleased to fire this up and listen. Sounds great with no issues. Over the years I have cleaned the switches and that\'s it.
Other components that I am running with this are Marantz CD67-SE CD Player, Yamaha T2 Tuner, Nakamichi BX-100 Cassette, a Logitec Bluetooth, and Elac B6 speakers.
No real complaints. The low end is full and natural not muddy or inflated. When listening to voices it\'s like they are in front of you. The highs are also very natural and controlled.
I would recommend this to anyone especially if you can find this at a bargain. |
Wally Nowlan - 09/30/2018 I recently purchased my A500 amp used at a local pawn shop last year and so far I am very pleased with it. It has great natural sound and is easy to use. I like that it is pretty basic in its controls but still offers good customization. I am using an 80s JVC turntable and Technics tower speakers with it and it sounds great to my ears. I would recommend this amplifier to anyone but the utmost technophile. |
Miles Daggett - 06/01/2013 Picked up a very clean A-500 that just been refurbished by Alex and Kevin at "The Analog Store" in Raleigh, NC for a fair price. It drives my NHT 1.3C's easily in my apartment. The setup sounds great. I use a circa 1975 Technics SL23 turntable for most of my listening and the system gives me lots of detail. The bass is lacking a bit, but I grew up listening to JBL 4311 studio monitors with giant 12" speakers and was a bit spoiled in that regard. Imaging is broad but no exaggerated. I would highly recommend the Yamaha for use with a decent mini or bookshelf speaker. |
Russell Britain - 09/01/2012 This amp sounds good is well put together and delivers bags of power. Overall a nice package without any serious defects |
